celebration of the sacrament of Confirmation in our parish

On Sunday 31/3/2019 we celebrated the sacrament of Confirmation in our parish. What a great joy to be able to serve our participants spiritually, so they can enrich their spiritual relations with God, where they become not only listeners to the word of God, but also witnesses and missionaries in their church and their community. Thirty-seven young adults were confirmed, among them were some of older age, those individuals went astray from their church due to the war situation. We met with them for a period of multiple weeks; informing them and helping them find their faith to become ready to receive the sacrament. It is always a joyful day when the Father’s lost children come back asking him to bestow upon them his love and forgiveness. Bishop George Abou Ghazen was the main celebrant, assisted by Fr. Ibrahim Alsabagh and Fr. Firas Lutfi. During the liturgy, all participants renewed their baptismal vows, then proceeded, one by one, along with their sponsors, to receive the seal of the Holy Spirit. The children’s choir chanted beautifully throughout the liturgy, and then they took the traditional confirmation picture. All participants and their families proceeded to the church Hall to continue the celebration. A delicious breakfast was served to the newly confirmed, and they were given the book of Catechism of the Catholic Church, it will be a good guide on their spiritual journey. Congratulations to our beloved parishioners confirmed today, their presence and participation during the ceremony (despite the difference in age) was wonderful. We pray that the Holy Spirit strengthened them in their journey, and may he bestow all his gifts on them, so they become fruitful members of the church.
