The opening of our new fraternity “Simon and Anna”
On Sunday 12th of September 2021, we opened in the parish mass our new fraternity under the name “Simon and Anna”. (They are the two elderly people who received Jesus when his parents presented him to God in the altar).
This fraternity receives the elderly who are over seventy years old and its goal is to accompany them on both spiritual and humanitarian levels.
The characters of Simon and Anna represent each old person who
lives on the hope of fulfilling the promise that Jesus promised us which is ‘to meet Him face to face’… They represent everyone who lives in a spirit of piety waiting for the coming of the Lord Savior and lives this waiting on the light of God’s word and in a spirit of perpetual prayer.
The doors of the fraternity will be opened to all those who wish to join it from the elderly and those who are able to move and leave the house.
In this fraternity, the elderly will spend an enjoyable time in prayer and meditation on the word of God, in listening and participating in many cultural lectures useful for their age, in sports and in many meaningful entertainment sessions.
All of this stems from our duty to honor parents and love our relatives, in order to preserve the bright smile on the faces of the elderly and peace in their hearts.
Over the pass of ten years, and especially in the last two years of the crisis, we have heard many words of despair and sadness from our elders. We will not allow these poisonous thorns destroy the hope in their hearts, but we will accompany them on their journey hand in hand, with love and gratitude, as they have accompanied us for many years in the journey of our growth where they sacrificed themselves for us…
